Job summary

America’s, headquartered in Carmel, IN, seeks a Director of FP&A to lead budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis for executive decision-making. You will work with the CFO/CEO and operations leaders, manage a small team, and develop scalable reporting for Finance, Accounting, and Operations.

The role emphasizes accuracy, timeliness, and prioritization in a fast-paced environment. A background in construction/program management and finance is highly valued, with a hybrid work schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • MBA with emphasis in Finance preferred.
  • CPA and/or CFA Charter.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems and data manipulation/reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Program Management or Construction Management work.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for financial modeling.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics F&O D365.
  • Excellent oral, written and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Team player with ability to self-start and work independently.
  • Ability to mentor/train others.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the annual operating plan and capital budget.
  • Develop efficient FP&A processes to support information needs.
  • Apply critical thinking and make recommendations in financial analysis.
  • Manage 5-year P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow modeling.
  • Develop investor relations materials.
  • Prepare Board quarterly financial reporting package.
  • Review quarterly forecasts with operations; improve forecast accuracy.
  • Oversee, mentor, and develop the FP&A team.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Corporate Accounting groups.
  • Train operations on reporting tools and financial concepts.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.

The primary goal of this position is to provide reliable financial analysis to the executive team for them to make sound financial decisions for the organization. The Director, FP&A will work closely with the Treasurer, CFO, CEO and operations executives to help prepare, consolidate, and analyze budgets, forecasts, M&A valuation analysis, job evaluation/performance analysis and much more. This person will lead a team of 1-2 financial analysts and will develop reporting processes for Finance, Accounting, and Operations. Key reporting disciplines include areas such as job cost, labor tracking, revenue and profit recognition, and multi-year financial modeling. Our ideal candidate is detail oriented, has a background in construction and/or program management, accounting, and finance, and has a demonstrated ability to develop efficient and scalable low-cost reporting processes. The candidate should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness and display a high aptitude for effectively prioritizing and solving problems. This is a full-time opportunity located in our Carmel, IN headquarters.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities For The Director, FP&A
  • Develop and manage the annual operating plan and capital budget.
  • Develop efficient and scalable processes within FP&A to support the operations department’s information needs.
  • Apply critical thinking and make recommendations when preparing financial analysis.
  • Manage the five-year modeling of P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
  • Develop and manage investor relations presentation materials.
  • Develop and manage the Board of Directors’ quarterly financial reporting package.
  • Prepare and review the quarterly forecast in conjunction with operations. Apply critical thinking to challenge forecast assumptions to improve accuracy and reliability.
  • Oversee, motivate, train, and develop the FP&A department team.
  • Will work closely with Operations Accounting and Corporate Accounting groups.
  • Ability to effectively train individuals in operations on reporting tools and basic financial concepts such as revenue and profit recognition, job cost analysis, under/over billings, etc.
  • Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Other special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications for the Director, FP&A

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
  • MBA with an emphasis in Finance strongly preferred.
  • Has, or is working towards, CPA and/or CFA Charter.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems and data manipulation/reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Program Management or Construction Management work.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance support services related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge Microsoft Excel for financial modeling.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics F&O D365.
  • Must have excellent oral, written and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Team player with the ability to self-start and work independently.
  • Ability to mentor/train others.
