Job summary

Rue Gilt Groupe seeks a Director, FP&A to lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning. You will partner with executives to translate financial data into strategic insights, driving profitable growth and efficiency.

You will guide a high-performing FP&A team and influence decisions with strong financial modeling and storytelling. Based in Boston with hybrid work (2 days in office), this role reports to the VP of Finance and collaborates across Accounting and Operations to anticipate

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or accounting required; MBA or CFA preferred.
• Progressive FP&A or corporate finance experience with leadership of teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to influence executive decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes with deep dive analysis into revenue, COGS/margin, and operating expenses.
• Act as strategic advisor to departmental heads, translating data into actionable insights to drive ROI.
• Oversee monthly and quarterly management reporting, highlighting variances, trends, and KPIs.
• Distill complex financial analysis into concise narratives for executive leadership.
• Build and coach a high-performing FP&A team and foster continuous professional growth.
• Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models for new initiatives and market expansion.
• Identify risks and opportunities, delivering data-driven recommendations.

About The Role

As the Director, FP&A, you will report to the VP, Finance and serve as a primary architect of our financial strategy. You will move beyond the what of the numbers to the why, leading the charge on budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning. You’ll lean into your strategic and consultative approach to drive impact as a key business partner to our executive leadership, uncovering opportunities and teasing out solutions that focus on profitable growth and operational efficiency. In partnership with your Accounting and Operations peers, you’ll lead the effort to increase Rue Gilt Groupe’s ability to anticipate business fluctuations and drive informed, data driven decision making.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning & Analysis: Lead the annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes, providing deep dive analysis into Revenue, COGS/Margin, and Operating Expenses to ensure alignment with corporate goals.
• Business Partnership: Act as a strategic advisor to departmental heads, translating complex financial data into actionable insights that drive ROI and efficiency across the organization.
• Performance Management: Oversee the delivery of high quality monthly and quarterly management reporting packages, highlighting variances, trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Executive Communication: Distill complex financial analysis into concise, compelling narratives and presentations for executive leadership and other senior stakeholders.
• Leadership & Coaching: Lead, develop and empower a high performing FP&A team, fostering a culture of creative problem solving, collaboration, and continuous professional growth.
• Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to evaluate new business initiatives, capital allocation strategies, and market expansion opportunities.
• Strategic Leadership: Proactively identify risks and opportunities, applying strong business judgment and bringing forward clear, data-driven recommendations to influence business decisions.

Experience And Background Needed

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through others, balancing hands-on involvement with effective delegation and empowering team members to take ownership and accountability for their work.
• Strong executive presence with the confidence to communicate a clear point of view, challenge assumptions, and influence decisions across all levels of the organization.
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple high-priority initiatives and deadlines.
• Collaborative and relationship-oriented, with the ability to build trust and strong partnerships across Finance and cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, or Accounting required; MBA or CFA preferred.
• Progressive experience in FP&A or Corporate Finance, including experience managing teams; a mix of high growth retail, e-commerce, or consumer market experience is highly preferred
• Expert level financial modeling skills and a strong understanding of how GAAP accounting flows into financial statements (P&Ls, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow).
