Job summary

Optum, a global health services leader, is hiring a Director of Footprint Design & Strategy to guide the enterprise Pharmacy Footprint, network optimization, and capacity planning across the U.S. This role requires leading analytics teams, partnering across functions, and driving long-term strategic investments. The position offers remote work from anywhere in the U.S.

with in-office requirements in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. four days per week for local hires.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of supply chain, network design, or strategy experience.
  • Experience in network modeling, capacity planning, or footprint optimization.
  • Proven success leading analytics teams and enterprise initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining the enterprise Pharmacy Footprint Strategy, including network optimization, expansion, and consolidation initiatives
  • Leading capacity planning and utilization strategies to support current and future business growth
  • Driving network design, scenario modeling, and business case development to support strategic decision-making
  • Providing strategic oversight for pharmacy real estate planning, facility investments, and site strategy
  • Establishing and advancing enterprise supply chain analytics capabilities and governance frameworks
  • Partnering across Supply Chain, Pharmacy Operations, Finance, Real Estate, Procurement, and Logistics to translate business priorities into actionable network strategies
  • Influencing executive stakeholders through data-driven recommendations and long-term strategic planning
  • Leading and developing a team of network planning, design, and analytics professionals while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and the ability to translate complex operational challenges into scalable enterprise solutions
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and influence decisions across senior leadership teams
  • Leverage solid analytical, financial, and business acumen to support network and investment decisions

The Director, Footprint Design & Strategy will lead the development and execution of OptumRx's enterprise fulfillment network strategy, ensuring the organization is positioned for long-term growth, operational excellence, and cost efficiency.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of supply chain, network design, or strategy experience
  • Demonstrated experience in network modeling, capacity planning, or footprint optimization
  • Proven success leading enterprise initiatives and analytics teams
Preferred Qualification
  • Experience supporting real estate or facility-related strategy
  • All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits as follows:

The salary for this role will range from $134,600 - $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
