Job summary

Merck & Co. seeks a US Finance Compliance Lead to guide a small team in delivering best-in-class compliance for the US Market Finance organization.

The role oversees SOX audits, internal controls, and cross-functional initiatives to safeguard financial integrity. A BS/BA in accounting or finance is required, with 10 years of related experience and MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The US Finance Compliance Lead reports directly to the US Finance Lead and is a dotted-line report to the Human Health US Compliance Lead.- The Finance Compliance Lead is responsible for leading a team of 2 Associate Directors to provide best-in-class compliance support to the US Market Finance team, providing oversight of policies, processes, audit/monitoring management, training, certifications, quarterly controls, risk assessments, third party audits, and remediation activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure that all aspects of the US Market Finance Compliance Plan are met without exception
  • Facilitate the annual SOX audit of US Finance by internal and external auditors
  • Coordinate annual reviews and training on internal controls, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and government pricing policies.
  • Prepare quarterly State of Compliance reports and hold compliance reviews with US Market Finance and Compliance senior leaders.
  • Manage quarterly control process for US Market Finance to ensure that any significant matters are identified and evaluated timely.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and Compliance perspective on commercial initiatives through active participation on various cross-functional teams.
  • Advise teams with the implementation of new projects/systems/processes to ensure overall financial integrity of data as well as compliance with SOX and other financial requirements.
  • Identify, investigate, and implement future preventative actions for any items requiring remediation.
  • Communicate the importance of compliance throughout the organization.
Required Education
  • BS/BA degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance
Required Experience
  • 10 years of business experience, preferably pharmaceutical/healthcare-related
Preferred Skills
  • Masters of Business Administration degree
  • Excellent project management, problem solving, and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and lead across functions----
  • Prior management / team leadership experience with proven results

The salary range for this role is

$156,900.00 - $247,000.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
