Church Pension Group (CPG) in Midtown Manhattan seeks a Director of Finance to lead budgeting and financial planning initiatives within Corporate Finance. The role reports to the SVP Finance and drives G&A expense management, cost allocations, and performance metrics across the organization.

Description Department: Corporate Finance Job Type: Regular Full Time Education Level: BA/BS Required Years Experience: 10 Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization that serves the Episcopal Church, located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing. The Finance team in the Corporate Finance department is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to provide the management team with actionable insights for decision making. The Finance team is also responsible for financial oversight related to risk, capital and liquidity. The Director Finance will report to the SVP Finance and be responsible for assisting with the organization’s financial planning and analysis which includes the preparation and monitoring of overall general and administrative expenses and financial management metrics .

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads Financial Management Related To G&A Expenses

• Drives the budgeting, forecasting and monitoring and reporting of G&A expenses
• Manages the execution and analysis of cost allocations
• Proposes annual guidance on financial management metrics for G&A expenses to SVP Finance and CFO in collaboration with Cost Center Managers, including identifying and assessing performance against relevant benchmarks
• Drives continuous improvement in management reporting by leveraging technology and business intelligent tools

Supports Finance Committee / Board materials related to G&A expenses

• Prepares and maintains standard reporting templates for the quarterly CFO and Finance Committee presentations related to G&A expenses
• Supports Financial Analysis team in reviewing G&A for the business budgets to ensure consistency across various business lines

Supports Finance team in establishing highly effective business partnering with Cost Center Managers

• Collaborates with the Financial Analysis team in effectively troubleshooting issues that may delay providing information timely
• Ensures consistent quality and timely deliverables to Cost Center Managers in collaboration with the Financial Analysis team

Leads ad hoc analysis requested by management. Collaborates with SVP Finance and Financial Analysis team to standardize financial processes. Continuously identifies opportunities to drive automation in financial reporting. Effective performance of the essential functions of this position requires regular in-person, on-site interaction with colleagues, both for purposes of relationship building and meaningful collaboration.

Education & Experience

• BA/BS required, in Finance/Accounting preferred; MBA preferred
• Experienced in insurance, retirement benefits or publishing, preferred but not required
• 10+ years of financial planning and analysis work experience required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Currently, hybrid work environment, which requires working in CPG's office Tuesdays through Thursdays and flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000
