PositionSummary

The Director of Environmental Services at Hunterdon Medical Center is responsible for overseeing and managing all activities of the Environmental Services and Linen Departments, including managing the Healthcare System's Hazardous Materials and Waste Program. This program is critical for ensuring that potential hazardous materials and waste are identified, handled, and disposed of in a safe and environmentally responsible manner to prevent harm to patients, staff, and visitors. The Director is also responsible for ensuring that the hospital is maintained in a clean and aesthetically pleasing manner while adhering to infection control standards. The Director is responsible for employee management, including hiring, talent development, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions. Additionally, the Director works closely with Infection Prevention to improve patient safety and represents Environmental Services and Linen in hospital committees and special projects. This position requires frequent contact with hospital staff, physicians, patients, visitors, and outside agencies, and reports directly to the Administrative Director of Support Services.

Primary Position Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Environmental Services and Linen Department Strategies: Responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the Environmental Services and Linen Department. They must assess departmental needs and identify areas for improvement in order to develop and implement effective strategies to ensure that the hospital is maintained in a clean and aesthetically pleasing manner while adhering to infection control standards.
  • Manage the Healthcare System's Hazardous Materials and Waste Program: Manages Hazardous Materials and Waste Program. This program is critical for ensuring that potential hazards are identified, and addressed in a timely manner to prevent harm to patients, staff, and visitors. Responsible for ensuring that all applicable regulations are followed, and that staff members are trained to handle hazardous materials safely.
  • Maintain Regulatory Compliance: Responsible for ensuring that the Environmental Services and Linen Departments are in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. Monitor compliance with regulations and standards, including those related to infection control, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Supervise and Manage Environmental Services and Linen Departments: Responsible for overseeing and managing all activities of the Environmental Services and Linen Departments. This includes ensuring that the departments are staffed appropriately, managing budgets, and developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure that the hospital is maintained in a clean and aesthetically pleasing manner while adhering to infection control standards.
  • Oversee the Development and Implementation of Policies and Procedures: Responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the Environmental Services and Linen Departments. Ensures that policies and procedures are consistent with regulatory requirements and best practices and are communicated effectively to staff.
  • Represent Environmental Services and Linen in Hospital Committees and Special Projects: Responsible for representing the Environmental Services and Linen Departments in hospital committees, task forces, and special projects as deemed appropriate. Works collaboratively with other hospital departments to achieve common goals and ensure that the needs of the Environmental Services and Linen Departments are addressed in hospital-wide initiatives.
  • Patient Experience and Cleanliness Responsible for ensuring that the hospital provides the highest standards in service, quality, and patient/customer satisfaction. One of the key components of this responsibility is to oversee the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAPS) program, which is a standardized survey tool used to measure patients' experiences during their hospital stay. Responsible for ensuring that the hospital is maintained in a clean and aesthetically pleasing manner to provide a comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Conducts regular inpatient rounding to identify any areas of concern related to cleanliness or maintenance and take corrective action as needed. Through effective leadership, training, and performance management, the Director must ensure that all Environmental Services and Linen staff provide high-quality service and contribute to a positive patient experience. Works closely with hospital leadership, physicians, and other healthcare providers to implement initiatives that improve patient satisfaction and ensure that the hospital remains a clean and safe environment for all patients and visitors.
Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field and/or Certificate and/or Advanced Specialized or Technical Training and/or ISSA
