This role will lead the evolution of how professional skills and capabilities are developed across the organization, ensuring our workforce is continuously equipped to deliver on Alnylam’s ambitious growth, innovation, and patient focused mission.

This leader will build a modern learning approach that uses AI and data to support both long-term development and just-in-time learning in the flow of work, with a particular focus on AI upskilling. The Director will work with partners across HR, IT, and other learning teams across the business to translate strategy into clear skills and practical learning experiences that drive adoption, behavior change, and results.

We are looking for a forward-thinking learning leader with experience operating at enterprise scale, leveraging emerging technologies (including generative and agentic AI), and building progressive learning experiences that accelerate performance in a complex, fast-moving environment.

This position is hybrid and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities
  • Own and evolve Alnylam’s enterprise learning and development strategy, shaping both near-term priorities and long-term capabilities aligned to business goals. Lead company-wide upskilling and reskilling efforts, including building AI literacy and other critical capabilities to support Alnylam’s 2030 strategy.
  • Lead the integration of generative and agentic AI into enterprise learning, partnering with HR, IT, and external experts. Drive adoption of AI-powered solutions that enable personalized, in-the-flow learning at scale and build employee confidence in using AI responsibly.
  • Design high-impact learning experiences that drive application and behavior change, using strong learning design and change management practices. Ensure solutions are accessible, scalable, and relevant across roles, regions, and levels.
  • Partner across learning teams and the business to align priorities and deliver consistent, high-quality learning experiences that meet global needs and drive engagement.
  • Embed learning into core talent practices, including hiring, onboarding, performance, and talent planning, ensuring development is tightly connected to employee growth and potential.
  • Define and track meaningful impact metrics to measure effectiveness and business value. Use insights to continuously refine strategy, guide investment decisions, and communicate ROI to senior leaders.
  • Build and manage strategic external partnerships to expand capability, accelerate innovation, and deliver learning at scale.
Qualifications
  • 8–10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise learning, talent development, or organizational effectiveness, including leading large-scale, complex initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in Learning, Organizational Development, I/O Psychology, or related field preferred (MBA also a plus).
  • Demonstrated success designing and delivering enterprise-wide learning strategies with clear business impact, grounded in deep expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles.
  • Experience leveraging AI, automation, and data-driven platforms to personalize learning and scale capability building, with strong awareness of emerging technologies and agentic applications.
  • Test-and-learn mindset, comfortable with ambiguity, energized by problem-solving, and quick to iterate.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Strong program and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-visibility initiatives in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
