We're seeking a motivated, mature, and practical Director, Counsel to join Schwab’s Employment and Benefits law group within Corporate Legal. Reporting directly to the lead employment counsel, this role will partner closely with HR, Employee Relations, Payroll, Operations, Health & Safety, Total Rewards/Benefits, and other cross‑functional stakeholders to support employment‑related compliance initiatives, policy development, investigations, day‑to‑day counseling, and adjacent benefits matters. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience with, exposure to, or a strong interest in developing expertise in ERISA and employee health and welfare benefits, including the legal and regulatory issues that arise in the administration, design, and communication of benefit programs. This role will also serve as a strategic advisor on the employment and benefits aspects of corporate acquisitions and integrations, executive compensation matters, and non‑competition and non‑solicitation agreement enforcement. The position requires the application of federal, state, and international labor and employment laws, as well as a willingness to build fluency in related employee benefits requirements.
The position will be based at Schwab’s corporate headquarters in Westlake, Texas and required to work from the office four days per week.
