Job summary

YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF WICHITA KANSAS in Topeka seeks a skilled manager for the Early Learning Center. This exempt, 40-hour weekly role reports to the ELC Senior Program Director and oversees programs, staff, and partnerships to support children and families.

Requirements include a degree in early childhood or related field, KDHE PDA for up to 100 children, 3 years of relevant experience, CPR/First Aid, and strong leadership, communication and organizational abilities.

Qualifications

• Degree and/or credential in Child Development or Early Childhood or a BA or BS degree in related field with 12 college credit hours in early childhood
• KDHE PDA for up to 100 infant/toddler/preschool/school-age children
• Three years of experience working with children birth to six years of age
• Experience supervising adults and working with collaborative agencies
• CPR, AED, First Aid certification or acquire within 30 days of hire
• Must attend NEO within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate the mission, vision and values of the Wichita YMCA
• Attend staff meetings, one-on-ones, community meetings and trainings as required
• Provide daily contact with staff on site
• Hold parent meetings, volunteer focus sessions and post weekly schedule for parents/staff/guardians
• Assist in implementing quality curriculum
• Train staff in programming techniques, completing accreditation, and subject areas
• Ensure all staff meet KDHE training requirements annually
• Ensure compliance with KDHE regulations, partnership agreements, grants and funding guidelines
• Provide equipment, supplies and resources for curriculum
• Maintain daily parent/guardian contact
• Develop and manage the site budget
• Complete paperwork for KDHE licensing, inspections and changes
• Follow YMCA policies for required forms
• Maintain a regular, posted schedule Monday through Friday
• Recruit, hire and train ELC staff; terminate staff when needed
• Manage all operational staffing issues
• Keep the ELC site clean and organized
• Address maintenance issues with Branch Director and ELC Senior Program Director
• Implement character development daily with staff and participants
• Maintain a positive attitude and teamwork
