Varo Bank is seeking a Director of Disputes to lead the global disputes function, oversee domestic and offshore teams, and partner with Product, Tech, Fraud, and Risk to improve customer experience and minimize losses. The role requires strategic oversight, regulatory knowledge, and strong operational discipline.

You will drive process improvements, establish KPIs, and ensure compliant, scalable dispute operations across the organization.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in fraud or disputes, with 4+ years in disputes & chargebacks in a fintech/bank environment.
• Experience managing employees and offshore operations (BPO or Managed Services).
• Ability to translate data into actionable strategies; some SQL experience; proficient in Excel/Sheets.
• Knowledge of dispute regulations (Reg E/Z), NACHA rules, Visa network rules.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; collaborative skills.
• Experience with dispute management platforms (Visa VROL, etc).
• Six Sigma/Lean certifications preferred.
• Awareness of emerging technologies, automation, and fraud trends.

Responsabilités

• Oversee domestic and offshore dispute processing teams and partners.
• Refine disputes processes using KRIs and KPIs; maintain control environment.
• Collaborate with Fraud to identify patterns and mitigate losses.
• Be primary escalation point for all dispute issues and reporting.
• Drive both transformational and tactical improvements with product/engineering.
• Lead readiness for new products affecting disputes and ensure safe deployment.
