Metric DCX is seeking a Director of Data Center Development to drive the preconstruction phase of large-scale data center projects across the United States. You will lead due diligence, entitlements, permitting, and utility coordination to deliver de-risked opportunities for handoff to construction.

This early-stage role offers significant scope to shape development processes, build a scalable function, and grow with the business as the portfolio expands.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data center or heavy infrastructure development.
• Solid experience with entitlements, permitting, and utility coordination.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously across different markets.
• Established relationships with utilities, municipalities, and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical and regulatory due diligence on acquired sites
• Own the entitlements and permitting process across multiple jurisdictions
• Coordinate with utilities on power delivery, interconnection agreements, and capacity commitments
• Manage external consultants, engineers, and local advisors through the preconstruction phase
• Work closely with construction, finance, and operations to ensure seamless project handoff
• Track and report development progress across a multi-site portfolio

The Role

With a strong pipeline of sites already secured, this role is focused on what comes next — getting them built-ready. You'll drive all predevelopment activity from due diligence through entitlements, permitting, and utility coordination, handing off fully de-risked projects to the construction team.
