Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in engineering, materials science, geosciences, chemistry, physics, or closely related field.
• Tenured Professor qualifications; exceptional Associate Professors may be considered for Professor rank.
• Internationally recognized scholarship in critical minerals, materials, energy tech, or related fields.
• Proven leadership of large interdisciplinary programs, centers, or consortia.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with academic, industry, government, and community stakeholders.

Responsabilités

• Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Penn State CMA.
• Lead interdisciplinary teams across colleges, institutes, and campuses.
• Foster a collaborative culture spanning exploration, extraction, processing, manufacturing, recycling, AI, and policy.
• Expand partnerships with industry, federal agencies, national laboratories, state agencies, and international collaborators.
• Lead large-scale research initiatives and center-scale proposals to federal sponsors.
• Establish and grow industry partnerships with Federal Labs to accelerate translation.
• Coordinate investments in shared research infrastructure and workforce programs.
• Advance educational and workforce initiatives for students and professionals.
• Advocate for Penn State CMA at regional, national, and international levels.
• Maintain an internationally recognized program at Professor rank.
