Job summary

Husson University in Bangor, Maine, seeks a full-time Director for the Graduate Counseling program starting August 2027. The Director will administer CACREP-accredited MS programs, teach, advise, and lead coordination of curriculum and policy, while representing the program externally.

The role requires a PhD/EdD in Counselor Education or related field, licensure eligibility for Maine, and CACREP involvement; experience as a program chair/director is valued.

Qualifications

• Earned PhD or EdD in Counselor Education or closely related field, CACREP accreditation preferred.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as clinical mental health counselor (LCPC) in Maine and/or certified or eligible for certification as a school counselor.
• Preference for CACREP program chairs/directors with CACREP reviewer experience.
• Evidence of Counseling Professional identity (ACA, ACES, AMHCA, and/or ASCA membership) required.

Responsibilities

• Administer and coordinate the Counseling and Human Relations program, overseeing curriculum and policies.
• Teach six credits per semester and stay current in a professional area of expertise.
• Supervise faculty, staff, and student workers; evaluate performance.
• Advise students on certification/licensure and career pathways; assist in graduations.
• Represent the program to external constituencies and support CACREP accreditation efforts.
