Job Summary

Supervises the corporate security department and implements critical infrastructure physical security strategies, policies, and standards. Safeguards the organization’s assets by mitigating threats such as vandalism, domestic terrorism, theft, trespassing, and workplace violence.


Job Description


  • Manages institution‑wide critical infrastructure physical security governance by creating and deploying regulatory policies aligned with North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC CIP 14), applying industry standards and Federal/local law‑enforcement requirements, and establishing inspection protocols that meet NERC CIP 14–like criteria and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

  • Prepares the organization and staff for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and other external inspections by integrating comprehensive compliance practices, ensuring readiness through structured evaluation processes, and maintaining consistent adherence to all applicable physical security standards.

  • Implements physical security technologies, including electronic access control, closed‑circuit television (CCTV), and private security guards, across designated critical infrastructure while developing and implementing asset‑protection protocols in coordination with Federal and local law‑enforcement agencies.

  • Ensures a safe workplace for staff and customers by enforcing physical security procedures through targeted training and assessments, promoting consistent compliance and strengthening overall security readiness.

  • Oversees the company’s executive protection resources while managing the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and Non‑Federal Capital (NFC) budget for all physical security operations.

  • Leads the Corporate Security department spending, staffing, hiring, and training to ensure effective resource allocation and a fully capable security workforce.

  • Performs duties as Program Owner of the Substation Physical Security Program which includes the implementation of the Physical Security Plan in accordance with PREB Resolutions and Orders.

  • Champions and models enterprise-wide adherence to governance, compliance, and ethical standards while fostering a workplace culture rooted in diversity, safety, fairness, open communication, and the highest levels of ethical behavior to uphold organizational integrity and regulatory alignment.

  • Leads and supports organizational strategies for the restoration of critical services and emergency preparedness to ensure business continuity and community trust.

  • Embraces and leads additional strategic responsibilities as needed to advance enterprise objectives and organizational resilience.

Education


  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management or related field.


Experience


  • 10 years of experience in similar functional role, with responsibilities of planning, budgeting, and at least 5 years of progressive experience in leadership or management roles overseeing multiple departments and/or functional areas.

  • 10 years of experience in Federal Law Enforcement integrated with Local Law Enforcement is a must.

  • 4 years of experience in Corporate Security Management.

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing physical security policies and procedures.

  • Extensive knowledge of physical security systems and procedures.

  • Experience in supervising, leading and managing large physical security teams.


Additional education may substitute for the required experience when it aligns with the competencies and knowledge necessary for the role:



  • Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management or related field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 8 years of experience performing related functions and at least 4 years of progressive experience in leadership or management roles overseeing multiple departments and/or functional areas.

  • Doctor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management or related field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 4 years of experience performing related functions and with progressive experience in leadership or management roles overseeing multiple departments and/or functional areas.
