The Director, Corporate Reputation and Strategy owns the U.S. corporate reputation strategy and enterprise narrative, and translates it into a coordinated, measurable, always on program of executive thought leadership, digital, and social engagement. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution: on one side, shaping what Boehringer should be known for - a distinctive executive thought leadership agenda, Interconnectedness, employer brand, and reputation research and measurement; on the other, bringing that narrative to life by positioning senior leaders as credible voices on priority issues and amplifying their perspectives through impactful digital and social campaigns, content, and channels that build visibility, trust, and influence for Boehringer.
The Director, Corporate Reputation and Strategy establishes and maintains strong relationships with internal business partners and external stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives and deliver well aligned, outcomes‑based programming. This role performs a high standard of excellence, rigor, and customer focus while consistently demonstrating the company's core behaviors.

This role is based on‑site at our Ridgefield, CT location with hybrid flexibility of 2‑3 days per week on‑site.

Duties & Responsibilities

Reputation strategy, executive thought leadership & enterprise narrative:

  • Own and evolve the U.S. corporate reputation strategy and the enterprise narrative, ensuring one consistent voice across audiences and issues.
  • Lead robust external environment scanning, trends analysis to inform strategic planning and thought leadership platform.
  • Design and lead the executive thought leadership agenda, identifying signature platforms and priority issues for senior leaders, developing point of view content and speaking/authorship opportunities, and building a sustained cadence of executive visibility that compounds credibility over time.
  • Lead the Interconnectedness platform as a core vehicle for executive thought leadership, developing dynamic content and positioning that inform and engage key stakeholders and advance Boehringer's priority issues.
  • Build and steward the employer brand in partnership with HR, aligning external reputation and executive voice with the employee value proposition.
  • Own reputation research and measurement, tracking reputation and trust movement, share of voice on priority issues, and executive visibility as a core success metric — and translate insights into strategy and continuous optimization.
  • Lead GEO/AI discoverability strategy so Boehringer's narrative and its executives' thought leadership are surfaced accurately across search and generative AI environments.

Develop and execute comprehensive, measurable digital and social campaigns that carry the corporate reputation narrative and amplify executive thought leadership to healthcare professionals, advocacy groups, policymakers, influencers, and the media:

  • Drive the creative and editorial development of digital and social content, including executive voiced content and leader social presence that resonates with key audiences and maintains a fresh stream of engagement.
  • Develop and deploy effective SEO/SEM strategies to drive targeted awareness, engagement, and traffic; support identification and management of influencers, KOLs, and sponsored partners who extend executive and enterprise reach.
  • Measure and consistently grow social and digital engagement across websites and channels; lead audience development, segmentation/targeting, and budget planning, and drive measurable lifts in share of voice and executive visibility.
  • Continually assess active channels and programs to gain insights, increase effectiveness, and optimize resources; institute outcomes‑based performance metrics and provide counsel to leaders and internal partners on digital, social, and executive presence best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Ten-plus (10+) years of experience spanning corporate reputation/communications strategy, executive thought leadership, and healthcare digital/social channel management.
  • Demonstrated success building executive visibility and thought leadership programs — ghostwriting/point of view development, leader social presence, and speaking/authorship platforms.
  • Proven track record developing and executing successful cross channel initiatives that drive corporate/business objectives (thought leadership, websites, digital media, SEO/SEM, social).
  • Experience guiding digital analytics and reputation measurement and driving outcomes‑based metrics and optimization.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute effectively; superior verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational savvy and business acumen; comfort advising senior executives.
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, including using data and metrics to build business cases and inform decision making.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post‑offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
