Job summary

The Lubrizol Corporation is seeking a Director, Corporate Process Safety Management to shape and advance the company’s global process safety strategy across its chemicals, polymers, and medical products businesses. You will establish the vision for process safety excellence and drive governance and risk-management capabilities worldwide.

You will lead a team of process safety professionals, advance PHA/LOPA, PSI governance, and MOC while partnering with regional leaders to strengthen safety

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years in PSM, engineering, or high-hazard operations.

The Director, Corporate Process Safety Management is a critical global leadership role responsible for shaping and advancing Lubrizol’s process safety strategy across a diverse manufacturing network spanning chemicals, specialty chemicals, polymers, and medical products. This leader will establish the vision for process safety excellence, strengthen enterprise-wide governance, and drive the continued evolution of risk management systems, technical capabilities, and safety culture to protect people, assets, and communities around the world.

Partnering closely with regional EHS leaders, operations, engineering, legal, and executive stakeholders, the Director will champion a consistent and high-performing Process Safety Management (PSM) framework across global operations. Leading a team of process safety professionals, this role will drive strategic improvements in risk identification and mitigation, Process Safety Information (PSI), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), auditing, and Management of Change (MOC), while supporting asset risk management and insurance initiatives.

As a highly visible enterprise leader, this individual will influence manufacturing performance on a global scale, identify opportunities to reduce process risk, and foster a culture of continuous improvement that advances world-class process safety performance. The ideal candidate combines deep process safety and chemical engineering expertise with proven leadership capabilities and the ability to build alignment across a complex international organization.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Develop and implement the global strategic plan and governance framework for process safety management to support continued improvement in safety and performance, reliability and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, industry standards and company standards.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive, global approach to oversee PHA/LOPA quality, audit performance, MOC effectiveness, and PSI governance to improve scope of coverage and depth of knowledge.
• Develop programs and initiatives that enhance the process safety culture and leadership capabilities in the organization to increase understanding of process safety and risk management concepts, employee engagement and subject related competencies as appropriate across the organization.
• Facilitate or oversee PHA’s for global processes and project requirements and support Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Human Reliability Analyses, Siting Studies and other Process Safety elements to support PHA recommendations.
• Provide Process Safety Engineering/consulting support related to the process safety elements including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Mechanical Integrity (MI), Pre-Start Up Safety Review (PSSR), Process Safety Information (PSI), Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety training, contractor safety and risk mitigation
• Participate in Incident Investigations and other HSE related teams, including root cause determination.
• Lead the relevant portions of our asset and property risk management program in connection with Legal and our third party insurers.

Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years in PSM, engineering, or high-hazard operations.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally 15-20% of the time
• Strong global influencing capability.
• CCPS and relevant certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Formal Root Cause Analysis training
• Experience with ePHA and PHA Works RA
• Experience using SAP, PI and/or DeltaV software.
• Knowledge of ASME, API, NFPA and OSHA regulations
