Job summary

Aon is seeking a Director, Climate Risk Consulting in New York, a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our New York City office. Director, Climate Risk Consulting

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our New York City office.

Aon’s Climate Risk Advisory offers physical and transition risk diagnostics, consulting, and risk transfer solutions worldwide. The team includes more than 30 climate experts from various regions, solutions, and industries. It is deeply integrated within Aon’s core business, using over 100 modelers, 40 full-time scientists and engineers, and thousands of industry and regional specialists.

The advisory team provides customized solutions and climate insights to help clients improve their decisions about climate and catastrophe-related risks.

What the day will look like

This role acts as a collaborator with regional practice leaders in Aon’s Climate Risk Advisory. It aims to promote excellence, coordination, efficiency, and effectiveness across client engagements and central initiatives. The individual will lead all aspects of project execution, manage several ongoing workstreams, and develop positive relationships with clients, account executives, producers, and the modelers, scientists, and consultants within the wider Aon team.

As a trusted partner to practice leadership, the successful candidate will coordinate priorities, support communication, and address operational challenges. This will ensure consistent, high-quality delivery, engage colleagues and clients, and help expand the Climate Risk Advisory’s solution suite.

Job Responsibilities:
Business Development & Growth
  • Collaborate with leadership to assist in long-term planning, business development, and efforts to expand the practice.
  • Coordinate proposal development, client presentations, RFP responses, and opportunity pursuits.
  • Maintain access to pipeline activity and support coordination across account teams, solution leaders, and technical experts.
  • Assist in improving the Climate Risk Advisory value proposition and market positioning.
Portfolio & Delivery Oversight
  • Collaborate with clients, account teams, and technical experts to guarantee advisory solutions meet business objectives and produce measurable results.
  • Coordinate Climate Risk Advisory engagements, making sure projects are prioritized and completed to a high standard.
  • Maintain visibility across active engagements to identify capacity limits, delivery risks, and operational dependencies.
Practice Leadership & Strategic Initiatives
  • Function as a dependable ally to Climate Risk Advisory leadership, supporting the alignment of priorities, initiatives, and decision‑making within the group.
  • Join forces with leadership to build and broaden new advisory solutions, capabilities, and go-to‑market initiatives.
  • Drive alignment across regional teams, solution leaders, technical experts, and business partners to support consistent implementation and strategic growth.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional initiatives that support practice growth, innovation, and scalability.
Organizational Excellence & Process Field
  • Maintain tracking and reporting across client engagements, central initiatives, and team priorities.
  • Establish guidelines, playbooks, templates, and governance frameworks that improve consistency across the practice.
  • Ensure accountability and follow‑through on key decisions, priorities, and action items.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Encourage cooperation and information exchange among regional teams, solution leaders, and technical experts.
  • Support colleague development, mentoring, workforce planning, and prioritization across the practice.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • More than 12 years of experience in consulting, catastrophe/climate risk analytics, insurance, reinsurance, or a similar area.
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, CAT Modeling, a related field or equivalent years of industry experience
  • Proven ability to guide complex client engagements and cross‑functional project teams.
  • Strong project and collaborator management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship‑building skills, including experience working with clients, senior executives, and technical specialists.
  • Demonstrated executive presence and ability to engage effectively with senior client and business leaders.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing colleagues within a consulting, analytics, or professional services environment.
  • Strong understanding of climate risk, catastrophe modeling, risk analytics, and advisory methodologies.
  • Experience assisting business growth efforts, including proposals, RFPs, and client pursuits.
  • Existing connections within the insurance, reinsurance, or broking ecosystem preferred.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable business recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence collaborators and drive outcomes across large, matrixed organizations.
  • Experience assisting business operations, portfolio management, practice management, or comparable strategic leadership roles.
  • Dedication to client service, integrity, and ethical business practices.

Thesalary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $175,000 to $200,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
