SIU Medicine in Springfield, IL is seeking an academic leader to serve as Director of Cerebrovascular Surgery within the Division of Neurosurgery. The role combines program development, teaching, and an active clinical practice.

The Director will lead a comprehensive cerebrovascular and endovascular program with Decatur outreach, recruit faculty, mentor research, and advance clinical pathways, education, and scholarly activity.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited medical school program
• Successful completion of a Neurosurgical Residency
• Fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery with or without additional open Cerebrovascular training. Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Neurosurgery
• Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois or eligible for such licensure
• Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership as Director of Cerebrovascular Surgery and guide program development and strategy
• Develop program goals, clinical pathways, and budgets for cerebrovascular services
• Collaborate with hospital leadership and multidisciplinary teams to enhance stroke and cerebrovascular care
• Grow additional neurosurgical programs including general and spine
• Assist in faculty recruitment for the Division of Neurosurgery and the Medical School
• Assist in resident and student education in Neurosurgery and Neurosciences
• Mentor neurosurgical research and serve as a role model in teaching and clinical practice
• Oversee clinical governance and quality improvement within the cerebrovascular program
• Contribute to education, research, and scholarly activity in the division

Education

Graduate of accredited medical school program

Fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery
