Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. seeks a strategic Business Development leader to grow market share for FMH products. You will shape growth strategy, budgets, and forecasted orders, collaborating with regional sales and BD teams.

The role entails contract negotiation, customer visits (50-75% travel), and reporting on pricing and orders. You will coordinate with engineering and contracts to maximize value, drive exports compliance, and ensure adherence to FAR/DFARS and ITAR/EAR.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 10 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working within the Aerospace Industry.
  • Knowledge of value based pricing, spares pricing, and contract negotiation.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
  • Strong interpersonal communications with a positive attitude and ability to motivate others.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail with ability to organize and maintain proprietary files and records.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions and requirements.
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFAR/DOD contract regulations.
  • Knowledge of ITAR / EAR regulations.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as liaison between company and customer for all opportunities and issues.
  • Identifies and partners with technical team on additional opportunities to provide value to our customers.
  • Conducts price negotiations with customers with support from BD Manager.
  • Maintains and updates Monthly Bookings Report and Pricing reports.
  • Signs off on all proposal activity within DLA.
  • Plans and organizes customer visits with 50-75% travel.
  • Interacts with field sales to monitor status of opportunities and hunt new prospects.
  • Prepares and reviews NDA with contracts manager.
  • Builds long-lasting relationships with customer senior management.
  • Accountable for KPIs and analyzes data to identify trends and improvements.
  • Manages digital marketing, including website updates and campaigns for new products.
  • Responsible for export administration and licensing per ITAR/EAR and for compliance with FAR/DFARS.

Job description

This person is responsible for developing the strategy for growth and executing on business development initiatives to increase the market share of FMH products. This position has no direct reports but works directly with our regional sales team to define target customers and aircraft for increasing sales. They will report into our VP of Sales and support the FMH business. Key responsibilities include building our strategic plan, a yearly budget, orders forecasts, contract negotiation, customer visit planning, and interfacing with distribution partners. This person must be intrinsically motivated with a strong drive to win.


This person develops objectives, business strategies, and provides overall direction for sales and contracts activities. Responsible for drawing in new business and coordinating with our BD Manager on all proposal activities. They are responsible for generation of monthly financial reports specific to the Business Development Department, including updating monthly reports for pricing, orders, and orders forecasts.


How You Will Do It

  • Maintains and generates updates to the Monthly Bookings Report and Pricing reports

  • Signs off on all proposal activity within DLA

  • Organizes and plans customer visits – anticipate 50-75% travel.

  • Interacts with field sales representatives to monitor the status of outstanding opportunities and hunting for new prospects

  • Prepares and reviews proprietary and non-disclosure agreements with our contracts manager

  • Build new and develop long lasting relationships with customer senior level management.

  • Accountable for the Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and analyzing data to identify trends and areas of improvements.

  • Manages digital marketing, including website updates and campaigns for new products

  • Responsible for export administration and licensing in accordance with ITAR / EAR regulations

  • Responsible for compliance to all current FAR and DFARS regulations


What We Look For


  • Bachelor's degree and/or 10 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience working within the Aerospace Industry

  • Knowledge of value based pricing, spares pricing, and contract negotiation

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.

  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.

  • Requires strong interpersonal communications (written and verbal) with a positive attitude and ability to motivate others.

  • Requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with ability to organize and maintain proprietary files and records.

  • Ability to maintain flexibility and adaptability to deal with changing conditions and requirements.

  • Requires ability to effectively read and interpret documentation, i.e., drawings, specifications, contracts, agreements, government notices, company operating procedures, etc.

  • Knowledge of FAR/DFAR/DOD contract regulations.

  • Knowledge of ITAR / EAR regulations.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles

  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs
