Job description

Description

As the Director of Business Development, you will lead the growth, profitability, and overall strategy for SendCutSend’s product lines and self-service manufacturing offerings. You will operate as a business-unit leader, with accountability for P&L performance, product-line strategy, pricing, material and service offerings, and the customer experience that turns first-time customers into repeat customers.

You will connect customer demand with manufacturing capabilities, working across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, Support, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Finance to determine where SendCutSend should invest, expand, price, and optimize its offerings.

This role requires a strong understanding of both the commercial and operational sides of the business. You will use customer behavior, manufacturing economics, competitive intelligence, and operational capacity to drive sustainable revenue and margin growth.

The scope of this role will evolve with the needs of the business.

Why SendCutSend?

SendCutSend is an on-demand manufacturing company specializing in custom sheet metal and CNC machining. We serve more than 150,000 engineers, fabricators, and businesses across the U.S. and Canada. We operate out of five facilities located in Nevada, Kentucky, and Texas.

Our business is built on reliability, accountability, quality, and constant improvement. Everyone here plays a real role in our success. We value people who are collaborative, innovative, and committed to detailed high-quality work. We’re scaling fast and building the future of manufacturing. If you’re excited to join the team and grow with us, we want to hear from you!

What you’ll do

Lead P&L performance for assigned product lines, including revenue, gross margin, profitability, order volume, and growth against established targets.

  • Own strategy for materials, thicknesses, finishes, secondary operations, services, pricing, and promotions across SendCutSend’s online ordering platform.
  • Evaluate product-line economics, including material costs, manufacturing costs, pricing, utilization, demand, and margin, to identify opportunities for profitable growth.
  • Analyze ordering behavior, conversion, cart abandonment, average order value, repeat purchases, customer feedback, and competitive pricing to identify growth opportunities.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain leadership to align product availability, lead times, inventory, sourcing, equipment capabilities, and production capacity with customer demand.
  • Identify and develop business cases for new materials, manufacturing capabilities, finishes, secondary operations, and services.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to prioritize platform improvements that make it easier for customers to configure, price, and order manufactured parts.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop campaigns, promotions, educational content, and customer acquisition strategies supporting product-line growth.
  • Establish and monitor product-line KPIs, including revenue, margin, order volume, average order value, conversion, repeat-purchase rate, lead time, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify underperforming products, services, or offerings and develop strategies to improve profitability, reposition the offering, or recommend discontinuation.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer while balancing customer expectations with manufacturing capability, operational efficiency, and profitability.
  • Develop annual and long-range growth plans for assigned product lines.
  • Present performance, forecasts, strategic recommendations, and investment business cases to executive leadership.
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing product-line management team as the business scales.
