As a Director of Brand Marketing, will own the evolution of MongoDB’s global brand identity and creative expression. MongoDB isn’t just about logos or design systems—it’s about driving real business outcomes, translating our complex technical offerings into stories and experiences, and fostering pride and loyalty among all audiences. This is your chance to shape the creative future of one of the fastest-growing enterprise companies in the world.

You will lead and influence all aspects of MongoDB’s brand visual expression. You are an articulate champion for design, passionate about quality and craft, and an experienced leader of diverse teams who can elevate ambitious work while delivering outstanding business results. Reporting to the VP of Corporate Marketing, you will work with peer leaders in Marketing and Product to transform the MongoDB brand to drive mindshare and market share with developer and executive audiences.

You are responsible for leading a team of creative professionals and collaborating with marketing, product, and sales to develop marketing plans, analyze results, and identify opportunities. You are also responsible for meeting budget requirements by forecasting and managing expectations.

What you’ll do:

Strategic Impact & Vision

  • Develop and articulate a bold, clear, and compelling brand strategy that enhances MongoDB’s market differentiation, emotional resonance, and business impact with audiences ranging from developers to senior executives
  • Translate MongoDB’s business priorities into powerful creative concepts and brand campaigns. Partner with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to craft ideas that move both our brand and the business forward
  • Identify and resolve strategic challenges by innovating bold, creative solutions that drive transformation and brand loyalty
  • Establish operational goals and metrics to measure awareness, emotional resonance, loyalty, and business outcomes—and implement mechanisms to continuously optimize MongoDB’s brand performance globally

Creative Leadership & Brand Development

  • Push the boundaries of our brand expression—from timeless visual systems to innovative campaigns—delivering emotional, human-centered work while staying connected to MongoDB’s technical roots
  • Lead narrative-driven storytelling across a variety of mediums (digital, video, events, product experiences, swag, etc.). Make technical complexity feel engaging, empowering, and relatable
  • Stay ahead of emerging creative technologies, including AI, generative design, motion, and interactive storytelling. Leverage these tools not just for efficiency, but to unlock bold, new creative possibilities
  • Build for digital-first experiences across platforms. Think intuitively about feeds, formats, and moments, creating a brand presence designed for today’s fast-moving, online world
  • Lead the refresh of our brand foundation and visual identity, ensuring MongoDB’s design system is distinct, scalable, and future-ready

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Recruit, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary creative team of designers, content creators, illustrators, and more, fostering a culture of excellence and inclusion where bold ideas thrive
  • Champion a culture of creativity and collaboration, driving strong concept development, attention to craft, and team cohesion
  • Build partnerships across Product, Marketing, Employee Experience, and Corporate Communications to ensure brand consistency and cohesion across all touchpoints
  • Serve as a key brand ambassador internally and externally, confidently articulating MongoDB’s brand vision to executives, employees, and the wider ecosystem

Executional Excellence

  • Deliver scalable, high-impact creative campaigns and brand experiences that resonate with developers and executive audiences alike
  • Manage resources, timelines, and budgets with strategic efficiency that maximizes ROI while ensuring quality and innovation across projects
  • Set a high bar for creative output, inspiring teams to raise the standard for storytelling, emotional connection, and visual expression at MongoDB
  • Experiment boldly across digital, live events, swag, and interactive environments to create unforgettable experiences that make “using MongoDB” synonymous with belonging to something bigger
What you’ll bring to the table:
  • Elevate our storytelling in product and company narratives through clear and compelling visual designs and elements
  • Develop and articulate a compelling design vision and operational strategy aligned with MongoDB’s goals
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to align creative work with business objectives and achieve pull-through across brands' platforms. This includes centralizing brand information, guidelines, collaboration tools, and digital asset management to ensure consistent brand communication
  • Present design concepts and strategies to senior leadership, influencing decisions and direction. Through regular reviews and meetings, ensure clarity and consistent workflow
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project buy-in and execution
  • Track industry trends and best practices, bringing innovative ideas back into MongoDB
  • Maintain and model a high bar for quality and taste
  • Prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short- and long-term needs and develop schedules by collaborating with designers, copywriters, and production artists
  • Conduct brainstorming sessions with the creative team, maintaining strategic thinking to develop innovative and actionable initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner
