Job summary

Amgen Ventures seeks a strategic, scientifically grounded leader to sourcing, evaluate, and manage venture investments in biotechnology and healthcare innovations. You will work with Research & Development, Business Development, Strategy, and Legal teams to identify opportunities, run due diligence, and drive strategic partnerships across portfolio companies.

As Director, you will help shape Amgen’s long‑term innovation strategy, collaborate with portfolio companies, and contribute to governance

Qualifications

• PhD/MD or equivalent with biotech focus and venture investing experience.
• Strong due diligence, financial modeling, and market assessment skills.
• Proven ability to source and evaluate biotech companies and venture funds.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with entrepreneurs and leaders.
• Experience across therapeutics, platform technologies, and healthcare innovation preferable.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate private biotechnology companies, healthcare tech firms, and venture funds aligned with Amgen’s priorities.
• Maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, VC firms, academic labs, and innovation ecosystems.
• Monitor scientific, clinical, competitive, and investment trends across biotech and health tech.
• Perform scientific, strategic, commercial, and financial due diligence on prospective investments.
• Prepare investment recommendations and present analyses to leadership and governance committees.
• Support management of portfolio companies and strategic partnerships.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape venture strategy and market intelligence.
