Job summary

Vanguard is seeking an experienced risk leadership professional to evaluate and enable innovative digital tools and investment products within its Personal Wealth Division.

You will partner with leaders across risk, product, and technology to assess emerging products, identify risks, and shape control design throughout the product lifecycle, while coaching teams and setting performance standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum eight years related work experience.
• Leadership experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Strong understanding of investment products and wealth management technology.
• Proven experience in risk management, internal auditing, or compliance.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and enable innovative digital tools and investment products across Vanguard’s Personal Wealth Division
• Partner with leaders, product teams, risk experts, business stakeholders, technology stakeholders, second-line risk teams, and subject matter experts
• Assess emerging products and technologies, identify and evaluate risks, and influence effective control design
• Shape business processes and embed risk management practices throughout the product lifecycle
• Hire, evaluate, and supervise crew; provide guidance and training to develop talent
• Set performance standards, review performance, and make compensation decisions in line with HR policies
• Communicate observations and work with business leadership on risk and control management strategies
• Identify risks, develop processes, and embed risk mitigation into investment products and services
• Provide advice on managing and controlling risk
• Analyze risk events to identify root causes, themes, and additional exposure areas
• Propose solutions and ensure remediation within risk tolerance
• Maintain knowledge of the wealth and investment industry, risk and control practices, and regulatory or policy changes
• Serve as a subject matter expert and trainer on risk and internal control matters
• Participate in special projects and perform other assigned duties
• Provide oversight through effective governance practices and promote governance and accountability across the division
