Job summary

Cerebras Systems seeks a Director, IP to lead the global IP strategy across patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. You will work with engineering, research, product, security, marketing, and executives to protect and leverage Cerebras’ AI hardware and software assets.

The role requires translating complex AI tech into strategic patent claims, managing international prosecution, and guiding licensing and collaboration activities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school; active US state bar
• Registration to practice before the USPTO
• 10+ years drafting and prosecuting patent applications in AI infra, HW, or related fields

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute Cerebras’ enterprise IP strategy aligned with roadmap and growth.
• Advise exec leadership on IP strategy, licensing opportunities, standards, and AI developments.
• Build and maintain an integrated IP portfolio including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, domain names.
• Drive invention harvesting and patent portfolio development across the AI infrastructure stack.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, product leaders and executives to identify patentable inventions.
• Manage US and international patent prep and prosecution; direct outside counsel.
• Develop portfolio opportunities tied to product releases and partnerships.
• Advise on IP issues related to generative AI and evolving standards.
• Support IP provisions in customer agreements, cloud/data center, and collaborations.
