Job summary

Blue Signal Search seeks a Director of AI Data Engineering to lead the data infrastructure powering speech recognition, NLP, and TTS initiatives. You will shape scalable data platforms, multilingual training data strategies, and end-to-end pipelines for speech and language AI research.

The role combines technical leadership with strategic governance, guiding data collection, annotation, and collaboration with researchers to accelerate model development and production readiness.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience developing or leading data infrastructure for ML research or large-scale training environments.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams including managers or senior individual contributors.
• Direct experience with speech/audio datasets, corpus design, annotation workflows, and dataset evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and evolution of scalable data engineering platforms for NLP, speech recognition, and TTS applications.
• Direct development of data pipelines for collecting, processing, transforming, and delivering large volumes of speech and language data.
• Oversee multilingual dataset sourcing, annotation operations, and external data partnerships.
• Collaborate with AI researchers to optimize audio data preparation and model training workflows.
• Establish standards for multilingual speech datasets including coverage and transcription accuracy.
• Mentor engineering managers and senior contributors responsible for data infrastructure and methods.
• Implement dataset versioning, lineage, and governance for reproducibility and production readiness.
