Job summary

The University of Connecticut School of Law in Hartford invites applications for an open-rank clinical faculty position as Director of Academic Success and Bar Preparation beginning in Fall 2027. The role combines leadership of the academic success program with teaching load in bar readiness and related courses.

Appointment may be at Assistant, Associate, or Full rank and comes with a long-term contract path.

Qualifications

J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
A demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the legal academy and/or profession.
Two years of relevant experience in academic success, teaching, academic support/skills programming, bar preparation, student affairs, advising, or related areas at the law school level.
Understanding of the evolving attorney licensure landscape, including the NextGen Bar Exam.
Ability to foster an inclusive, supportive, and student-centered learning environment that supports diverse students.
Demonstrated administrative and program-assessment abilities.
Experience teaching legal writing.

Responsibilities

Teach one academic success course each fall and spring semester.
Provide individualized advising and coaching to students.
Develop and teach bar preparation and related courses.
Shape the structure and delivery of the Law School’s bar readiness program.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to align the program with accreditation standards.
