Qualifications

• Proficiency with electronic locating equipment (e.g., Digitrak, Ditch Witch Subsite systems).
• Licensing: Valid Driver's License; CDL Class A often preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Operate tracking electronics to monitor depth, pitch, orientation, and temperature of the drill head in real time.
• Read and interpret utility prints, site plans, and drawings to map safe underground bore paths.
• Maintain 2-way radio or verbal communication with the drill operator for movement and steering.
• Record accurate as-built logs and bore path measurements upon completion of each drill shot.
• Verify marked lines and existing utilities before and during drilling operations.
• Apply APWA utility color codes to identify hazards.
• Set up traffic control signs and cones following OSHA/local standards.
• Perform daily inspections, cleaning, calibration, and basic maintenance on locating equipment.
