Cable Services Company, Inc. in Greenville, PA, seeks a Directional Bore Operator / Locator for a traveling role across the Northeast. Expect extended travel away from home, including nights on the road; local assignments are exceptions.

Role covers setup and operation of directional bore, locating utilities, and documenting daily activities. Strong reading of prints and CDL preferred; telecom bore experience a plus.

• Operate horizontal directional drill equipment per standards.
• Locate cables and verify with blueprints.
• Identify utilities and bore paths; connect/stub conduit and wire.
• Dig pits, trenches or potholes; restore disturbed areas.
• Complete all required company documentation (timesheet, logs).
• Adhere to safety policies and perform work safely.
• Perform other duties to help team finish projects.

Job description

We're looking for a Directional Bore Operator / Locator to join our crew. We are searching the area of Greenville for our next potential Directional Bore Operator / Locator. This is a traveling position; our crews work job sites throughout the Northeast, and candidates should expect to be away from home for extended stretches, including multiple nights during the week. Any local or nearby assignments should be considered the exception rather than the rule.

Summary/Objective

This position performs tasks required for the operation of directional drill including set-up and bore path completion for the construction/upgrade of communications conduit, gas, water, sewer, etc.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Load and unload directional bore equipment in a manner that is secure and damage free
• Transport associated tools, materials and/or equipment in a safe manner
• Complete a daily inspection on bore equipment prior to commencing work
• Prepare the drill fluid based on site conditions prior to boring commencing
• In conjunction with bore crew, locate/operate the directional drill using the selected bore heads and back reamers to place cables
• Operate horizontal directional drill equipment in accordance with company and industry standards
• Responsible for locating cables and verification in accordance with blueprints
• Identifies utilities in the construction area and bore path
• Connect/stub-up conduit and wire
• Dig pits, trenches or potholes as required including windows when crossing utilities
• Restores and/or landscapes disturbed areas of the jobsite
• Accurately complete all required company documentation for each assignment according to established company standards and procedures (i.e. timesheet, vehicle log, expense report)
• Adhere to all established company safety policies and perform work in a safe manner.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned in order to help team complete a project

Travel

• Weekly travel is required for this position. Company will pay hotel expenses (shared room) and per diem

Preferred Education and Experience

• One year of experience operating a directional borer preferably in the telecommunications field
• Previous rock boring experience
• Class A CDL
