Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Load and unload directional bore equipment safely.
• Transport tools, materials, and equipment securely.
• Inspect bore equipment daily before use.
• Prepare drill fluid based on site conditions.
• Locate and operate the bore to place cables with the crew.
• Operate horizontal directional drill equipment per standards.
• Locate cables and verify placements from blueprints.
• Identify utilities in the work area and bore path.
• Connect conduits and wire as required.
• Dig pits or trenches including windows when crossing utilities.
• Restore disturbed areas after work.
• Complete all required paperwork (timesheets, logs, expenses).

This position performs tasks required for the operation of directional drill including set-up and bore path completion for the construction/upgrade of communications conduit, gas, water, sewer, etc.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Load and unload directional bore equipment in a manner that is secure and damage free
• Transport associated tools, materials and/or equipment in a safe manner
• Complete a daily inspection on bore equipment prior to commencing work
• Prepare the drill fluid based on site conditions prior to boring commencing
• In conjunction with bore crew, locate/operate the directional drill using the selected bore heads and back reamers to place cables
• Operate horizontal directional drill equipment in accordance with company and industry standards
• Responsible for locating cables and verification in accordance with blueprints
• Identifies utilities in the construction area and bore path
• Connect/stub-up conduit and wire
• Dig pits, trenches or potholes as required including windows when crossing utilities
• Restores and/or landscapes disturbed areas of the jobsite
• Accurately complete all required company documentation for each assignment according to established company standards and procedures (i.e. timesheet, vehicle log, expense report)
• Adhere to all established company safety policies and perform work in a safe manner.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned in order to help team complete a project

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret engineering/construction prints, plans and specifications
• Knowledge of utility depths and placements
• Possess general knowledge of construction practices
• Ability to work in various environments/settings with moderate to loud noise levels

• Previous rock boring experience
• Class A CDL
