Job summary

Sevita in Austin, TX seeks a Direct Support Professional to provide non-exempt, hourly support within a residential program, helping 4–6 individuals in a unit setting and up to 10 in periodic programs.

You will assist with daily living activities, health maintenance, medication administration, and community integration. You will document progress, follow individual plans, and maintain safety and confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Six months of experience in human services preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Working knowledge of computers.

Responsibilities

• Direct Support: assist with socialization and behavioral development, personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, community orientation, shopping, and activities of daily living.
• Records: document progress and logs; maintain confidentiality.
• Management of Individuals' Assets: make cost-effective purchases within the budget.
• Relationships: maintain professional relationships with individuals, families, guardians and case managers.
• Reporting: report abuse or neglect and medical/behavioral incidents per policy.
• Rights: maintain confidentiality and rights of individuals; follow safety protocols.
• Appointments: accompany to medical appointments and relay information to providers.
• Medications: support administration and document delivery; report errors.
• Meal Preparation: assist with meals and dietary plans.
• Training: attend orientation and monthly staff meetings.
• Employee Scheduling: follow scheduled hours and communicate absences.
• Teamwork: collaborate with others and show respect.
• Workplace Safety: follow safety policies and report hazards.
• Safety: participate in safety drills and emergency readiness.
• Direct Support: provide transportation and community integration as needed.
