Job summary

ATC Healthcare Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide direct care to individuals who are developmentally and/or physically challenged in a group home setting. You will implement care plans, document resident needs, and ensure a safe, clean environment while advocating for autonomy and dignity.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least six months of direct support experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required and prior direct support experience in a group home setting.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Willingness to perform physical tasks including lifting and assisting residents.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Implements goals and procedural objectives for residents.
• Documents all aspects of residents' needs and care.
• Provides a safe, clean environment and supervises residents.
• Acts as an advocate for residents at all times.
• Assists with dietary duties, laundry, and housekeeping as needed.
• May be assigned to different site addresses.

ABOUT THE DSP POSITION

We have an exciting opening available for a Direct Support Professional. A Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care service to individuals who are developmentally and/or physically challenged. The work involves providing specialized care and training in all identified areas.

• Implements goals and procedural objectives
• Implements and documents all aspects of the individuals' needs including personal hygiene
• Provides a safe, healthy, clean environment and provides supervision to the individuals
• Functions at all times as an advocate
• Performs dietary duties, i.e. food preparation and clean up
• Performs laundry duties, i.e. personal clothing and linens
• Performs housekeeping/cleaning duties
• May be assigned to various work areas, which may include site addresses that differ from the originally scheduled site.

A High school diploma or GED is required as is at least six months' experience as a direct support staff in a group home setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Sitting, standing, and walking
• Lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 pounds independently
• Bend and stretch as needed
• See, hear, speak, write, push, pull, climb, twist, reach, and possess manual dexterity

CREDENTIALS

• Current CPR and First Aid
• Current physical exam may be required for some programs
• TB Screening and baseline testing (PPD or blood test)
• Certification of Completion: Direct Care Staff Training Course and Competency for some programs.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complies with ATC policies and procedures.
• Complies with client policies and procedures.
• Maintains confidentiality relative to patient care and facility practices in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
• Communicates information effectively to appropriate personnel.
• Documents patient care as assigned in accordance with client policies and procedures.
• Follows the patient’s treatment plan as assigned.
• Provides patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness so that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
