Job summary

Journey Found, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Specialist to assist individuals in our Connecticut group homes. You will support activities of daily living, transport clients, organize outings, assist with medication administration, and coordinate with clinical staff.

Based in Pawcatuck, CT, the role offers hourly pay of $20.85 and a full-time schedule including weekends; training is provided, and we focus on compassionate, patient-centered care in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years driving experience with a valid license.
• Behavioral Management experience and/or formal training.
• Must be PMT, CPR, FA and complete DDS Medication Administration Program (MAP).
• Must be free from communicable disease.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living (getting dressed, cooking, cleaning, bathing, toileting).
• Transporting people to appointments and activities.
• Organize activities and community outings.
• Administer medications as required.
• Attend doctors’ appointments and document program data.
• Teach and engage individuals in routines.
• Support decision making and grocery shopping.
• Deescalate situations and manage behaviors.
• Work as part of a collaborative team with nurses and supervisors.

Fundamental functions of the position:
