Job summary

Journey Found, Inc. in Manchester, CT seeks a Direct Support Specialist for full-time 40-hour weeks, including weekend shifts. Responsibilities include daily living support, transportation, activities, medication administration, and documentation in a group-home setting.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Must have at least 3 years driving experience with a valid driver’s license.
• Behavioral Management Experience and/or formal training.
• Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing.
• PMT, CPR, FA and completion of DDS Medication Administration Program (MAP).
• Must be free from communicable disease.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with activities of daily living (dressing, cooking, cleaning, bathing, toileting).
• Transport individuals to activities and appointments.
• Organize activities and community outings.
• Medication administration and oversight of doctors’ appointments.
• Document program data and progress.
• Teach and engage with individuals; implement routines.
• Assist with grocery shopping and errands.
• Deescalate situations and manage behaviors.
• Work as part of a team and communicate with nurses and supervisors.
