Job summary

Advocates is a nonprofit organization seeking Direct Support Staff to assist adults with developmental disabilities in residential settings. You will provide daily living support, guidance, and skills-building activities, helping individuals achieve personal goals and participate in community outings.

Starting rate is $18.50/hour with a second shift (Sun–Tue 3–11p, Sat 9a–11p). We emphasize dignity, respect, and a person-centered approach while maintaining required certifications and safety

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in human services preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to transport individuals.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support at home and in the community.
• Help plan and implement daily routines and activities.
• Support individuals in setting and achieving person-centered goals.
• Encourage participation in community and social opportunities.
• Support household cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Document observations, progress, and any concerns.
• Implement established treatment and support plans.
• Provide physical intervention in crisis situations when necessary.
• Maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, MAP, SOLVE, HR/DPPC).
• Ensure individuals are treated with dignity and in alignment with Human Rights policies.
