Job summary

Lutheran Services in Iowa – Harmony House in Muscatine is seeking weekend Direct Support Professionals to empower adults with disabilities and/or mental health needs. Weekend shifts offer part-time or full-time positions with a comprehensive benefits package.

You will support daily living activities, accompany individuals in various activities, and help promote personal growth within a 24/7 support framework. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with compassion and reliability essential.

Qualifications

• Experience serving people with disabilities or in Supported Community Living (SCL) preferred but not required.
• Ability to build positive relationships with individuals and family members.
• Demonstrates interpersonal sensitivity and rapport-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide support, assistance and instruction to adults with disabilities or mental health needs.
• Assist with daily living activities and personal cares as needed.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and empowering environment.
• Remain awake during all assigned shifts as this is a non-sleeping position.

Our Services for People with Disabilities team is searching for dedicated, energetic caregivers to work part-time or full-time as weekend Direct Support Professional in Muscatine at Harmony House. The Iowans we serve are seeking a life of greater confidence and independence, and it's our privilege to empower them toward success every day.

Hours available:

Friday 10PM-6AM; Saturday 6AM-2PM; 2PM-10PM; 10P-6AM
Sunday 6AM-2PM; 2PM-10PM; 10P-6AM (Hours of shifts: 1st shift: 6AM-2PM; 2nd shift: 2PM-10PM; 3rd shift 10PM-6AM)

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will work directly with the individual with a disability and/or mental health and provide support, assistance, and instruction in areas which facilitate personal growth and independence to adults that need 24 hour support. As a DSP you must be able to build and maintain positive and supportive relationships with individuals with disabilities and members or their family. This includes having interpersonal sensitivity and strong rapport building skills. People served by LSI may need assistance with physical cares (hygiene, diaper/brief changes, feeding, toileting, transfers) and the Direct Support Professional will, as necessary, assist with these cares and reflect a positive and willing attitude.

This is a non-sleeping position; must be awake during all shifts.
