Alternatives, Inc. in Hillsborough, NJ is looking to hire a part‑time Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to support adults with developmental disabilities.
We pay a competitive wage of $20.75 per hour and $22.75 on weekends. We also offer paid training, annual raises, mileage reimbursement, staff appreciation events, employee recognition awards, health and wellness fairs, and eligibility for a federal student loan forgiveness program.
As a DSP/Caregiver, you begin each shift ready to help adults with developmental disabilities live their best lives independently. Your mission is to ensure the comfort and safety of each client. In our residential group home, you assist residents with activities of daily living such as administering medication, cooking meals, performing personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments.
You also assist in the implementation of individual behavioral plans. Using effective teaching and mentoring techniques, you teach new skills and help clients achieve goals. Based on each individual's preferences and behavioral plans, you encourage their interests and drive them to community outings and recreational activities. You keep documentation accurate and up‑to‑date and report any concerns about their health or safety.
We operate 24‑hour residential group homes, allowing DSPs/Caregivers to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
All employees are required to complete 10–15 training sessions upon hire and on an ongoing basis. Training is a combination of in‑person sessions, which require staff to commute to our main office in Raritan, NJ, and remote sessions conducted via Go To Meeting. All training is paid.
