Job summary

QSAC, a New York City and Long Island based nonprofit, seeks a Habilitation Specialist (DSP) to assist individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. You will support daily living, social skills, and community integration while following established treatment plans and the NADSP Code of Ethics.

This role offers flexible shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and overnights, with opportunities to advance and participate in a caring, mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
• Valid New York State Driver's License and a good driving record required.

QSAC is a New York City and Long Island based nonprofit that supports children and adults with autism, together with their families, in achieving greater independence, realizing their future potential, and contributing to their communities in a meaningful way by offering person-centered services. QSAC pursues this mission through direct services that provide a supportive and individualized setting for children and adults with autism to improve their communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills.

Job Summary

The Habilitation Specialist (DSP), is responsible for assisting the people we support, while following established treatment plans. QSAC’s Residential program emphasizes the importance of promoting independence through the development of daily living/social skills and integration into the community through recreational outings. You will abide by the Direct Support Professional Code of Ethics at all times.

Shift Information

Flexible Schedule - Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings, Overnights - Weekdays and/or Weekends. May be required to assist with overnight outings.

Salary Ranges

Direct Support Professional $18.00

Physical Demands

• Ability to run, when needed


• Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weightsand 20 lb items

Education/Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred


• Experience working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities


• Valid New York State Drivers License and good driving record is required
