Job summary

American Baptist Homes of the Midwest Chariton, Iowa, United States is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) on a PRN basis. You will provide compassionate, person-centered support to residents with developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, and traumatic brain injuries in welcoming group home settings.

This role offers flexible hours, competitive pay at $17.00 per hour, and paid training. No healthcare experience required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Previous experience in medical, caregiving, healthcare, DSP, CNA, PCA, or related fields preferred but not required.
• Dependable, compassionate, patient, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation
• Support individuals with daily routines while encouraging independence and personal choice
• Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful home environment
• Monitor and report changes in residents' health, behaviors, or overall well-being
• Assist with transportation to appointments, community outings, and activities
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and team members to provide comprehensive support
• Provide consistent, dependable care during scheduled evening, overnight, and weekend hours
