Job summary

Valley Behavioral Health’s Adult Ability Center seeks a Direct Support Professional to help adults with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities build independence, confidence, coping skills, friendships, and meaningful life experiences.

Full-time position with pay starting at $17/hour based on experience; schedule Monday–Friday 8:30am–4:30pm. Offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities within a nonprofit organization.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • No experience required for this role.
  • CPR certification (post hire if needed) may be required.
  • Valley de-escalation certification (as required).
  • Driving positions require a minimum age of 21 and a valid driver's license.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based practices to develop clients’ individual skills across life, social, and job areas as per the person-centered plan.
  • Teach pre-employment and employment skills in clinical settings.
  • Assist clients with self-help/independence tasks including toileting, feeding, and basic hygiene.
  • Collaborate with treatment team to ensure high-quality support and care.

Job Summary & Deliverables

The Direct Support Professional provides evidence-based practices to develop clients’ individual skills in providing supported services across life, social, and job skill areas as indicated by the person-centered support plan to meet individualized goals. The Direct Support Professional is responsible for utilizing evidence-based practices, meeting fiscal responsibilities, and ensuring that regulatory and organizational standards are met.

  • Utilizes information gathered from the person-centered process to identify client strengths and weaknesses and develops collaborative goals with each client and their family for lifelong learning
  • Develops client’s individual skills in providing supported services across life, social, and job skill areas
  • Uses evidence-based practices to teach pre-employment and employment skills in clinical settings
  • Assists clients with self-help/independence skills which can include toileting, feeding, and basic hygiene routines
  • Works cohesively with treatment team to ensure the delivery of high quality support and care
