Alternatives, Inc. in Jackson, NJ is seeking a part-time weekend Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to support adults with disabilities.

You will assist residents with daily living activities, administer medications, prepare meals, and transport to appointments in a supportive home setting. We offer a competitive wage of $20.75 per hour with a $2 per hour weekend supplement, paid training, mileage reimbursement, staff appreciation events, and other benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen.
• Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening.
• Ability to pass and maintain trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living in a residential group home.
• Administer medications and accompany residents to medical appointments.
• Prepare meals and support personal hygiene.
• Implement individual behavioral plans and use teaching techniques to develop new skills.
• Encourage community outings and document health and safety concerns accurately.

You have made it your mission to ensure the comfort and safety of each client. In our residential group home, you assist our residents with activities of daily living such as administering medication, cooking meals, performing personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments.You also assist in the implementation of individual behavioral plans. Using effective teaching and mentoring techniques, you teach them new skills and help them achieve goals. Based on each individual's preferences and behavioral plans, you encourage their interests and drive them to community outings and recreational activities. You are happy to help them find greater access to the community.
