Job Summary

As a DSP, you will provide essential support services, including personal assistance, independent skill development, and community integration. You will play a vital role in empowering clients to lead fulfilling lives while ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support clients in their daily activities and personal goals as outlined in their Individual Support Plans.
  • Accompany clients to medical appointments, recreational activities, and community resources.
  • Provide training in personal hygiene, money management, safety, household skills, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Document client progress and maintain detailed records, including daily notes and receipts for purchases.
  • Implement emergency and safety drills as specified in the Individual Safety Plan.
  • Complete General Event Reports (GERs) and adhere to state guidelines.
  • Maintain current certifications in CPR, Standard First Aid, and Med Aide if administering medications.
  • Attend meetings and specialized training as required.
  • Complete competency-based Community Services orientation training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age; must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities, or successful completion of training in the Missouri Quality Outcomes approved by the Division of DD regional office.
Additional Qualifications
  • Must have a reliable means of communication.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctuality and excellent attendance are essential.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Must possess skills to read and understand written materials and write clearly and legibly.
  • Must have a working air conditioner and heater in any vehicle used for client transportation.
Physical Requirements
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shifts.
  • Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
