Job summary

Ability Beyond is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual, developmental, physical, and behavioral health needs in residential and community settings around the Greater Danbury area. No experience is required, and paid training is provided.

You will help with daily living activities, transportation, life skills, and community participation while joining a supportive, mission-driven team with flexible schedules and a potential $1500 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
• Willingness to learn with no prior experience required. Paid training is provided.
• Compassionate, dependable, and motivated to support others.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
• Assist with personal care, including bathing, toileting, and medication reminders as needed.
• Help individuals develop independent living skills like budgeting, communication, and meal planning.
• Provide transportation to medical appointments, errands, and community outings.
• Encourage participation in social, recreational, and volunteer activities.
• Implement behavioral support strategies and de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Collaborate with nurses, behaviorists, nutritionists, and other clinical team members.
• Assist with goal planning, progress tracking, and skill development.
• Maintain accurate documentation of services and daily activities.
