Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking compassionate caregivers to provide personal care and household support in the home environment. Typical duties include helping with toileting, bathing, dressing, hygiene, and facilitating social interaction throughout the day.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance with personal care including toileting, bathing, dressing and hygiene needs.
• Provide positive social and leisure interaction in the home.
• Safely lift, transfer and reposition individuals as per schedules.
• Ensure safety during mealtimes and assist with food prep and dietary needs.
• Complete daily housekeeping: wash dishes, beds, laundry, trash, bathrooms, kitchens, mopping, sweeping.
• Ensure adequate supervision and cover during shifts or backup staffing as needed.
• Report to work during inclement weather to maintain care and supervision; may shelter in place during a hurricane.
• Treat all individuals with dignity and respect and communicate professionally with all.
• If hired as a driver, operate large capacity vehicles to transport individuals to training, medical appointments, or community outings.

Available schedules

• Full Time: Sunday 6:45am - 11:15pm, Monday - Wednesday 6:45am - 3:15pm
• Full Time: Wednesday - Friday 6:45am - 3:15pm, Saturday 6:45am - 11:15pm
• Part-time: Friday - Sunday 6:45am - 3:15pm
• Part-time: Friday - Sunday 2:45pm - 11:15pm

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance with personal care for all individuals in the home as needed including, but not limited to, toileting, bathing, dressing and hygiene needs.
• Provide positive social and leisure interaction to all individuals in the home regularly throughout the day.
• Safely lift, transfer and reposition all individuals in the home as outlined in daily schedules.
• Ensure safety for individuals in the home during mealtimes, including preparation of food, diet textures, dietary restrictions, adaptive mealtime equipment and feeding assistance.
• Complete housekeeping duties daily to include washing dishes, stripping and making beds, laundry, taking out trash, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, mopping and sweeping.
• Ensure adequate supervision of individuals in the home. This may include staying past regularly scheduled hours until staff arrive for the next shift or back-up staffing is arranged.
• Report to work during inclement weather to ensure adequate supervision and care of all individuals in the home. This may include sheltering in place during a hurricane.
• Treat all people with dignity and respect, ensuring all personal rights are met including communicating in a friendly and professional manner with all people, including individuals in the home, coworkers, visitors and customers.
• If hired as a driver, operate large capacity vehicles (10-12 passenger vans, wheelchair buses) to provide transportation to individuals living in the home to/from training center, medical appointments, home visits and any community outing. Comply with all DOT regulations and local laws relating to operation of a vehicle.

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma (required)
• 18 years of age or older (required)
• Read, write and comprehend English with the ability to remain calm and communicate during a crisis (required)

Work Experience/Related Qualifications

• Previous working knowledge utilizing household appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, oven, etc.) (required)
• Ability to stand for long periods of time, engage in household tasks which include bending and lifting, pushing wheelchairs, use of hands for tasks such as writing, typing, handling small objects (required)
• If driver, must be able to operate large capacity vehicles (10-12 passenger vans and wheelchair buses) by driving safely and navigating traffic
• Valid FL Driver’s License in good standing at all times (preferred)
• Hoyer lift, van lift, and adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, etc.) (preferred)
