Responsibilities

• Provide individualized opportunities for community inclusion, enhanced independence, and relationship building in work experiences.
• Help individuals with disabilities develop the skills that they need to obtain and maintain employment, such as effective communication, acceptable workplace conduct, workplace problem-solving skills, and workplace safety.
• Advocate for those we serve while following each person's Individual Service Plan (ISP).
• Accurately document services rendered and daily activities, attendance, incident reports, and Medicaid documentation.
• Transport individuals to and from work sites and assist with personal care if needed; supervise employment sites to ensure safety and well-being.
• Support others to participate in day-to-day activities and function with empathy while maintaining professional boundaries.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EMPLOYMENT DISCOVERY SPECIALIST

As an Employment Discovery Specialist, you provide individualized opportunities for community inclusion, enhanced independence, and relationship building in work experiences. You help individuals with disabilities develop the skills that they need to obtain and maintain employment, such as effective communication, acceptable workplace conduct, workplace problem-solving skills, and workplace safety. You enthusiastically engage with individuals while teaching hard and soft work skills and behaviors. Providing direct support, you set up and implement people-centered group employment opportunities.

As an advocate, you aid those we serve while always supporting considerations as outlined in each person's Individual Service Plan (ISP). Leveraging your strong organizational skills, you accurately document all services rendered. Additionally, you thoroughly record daily activities, attendance reports, incident reports, and documentation for Medicaid reimbursement.

You provide support to individuals for them to effectively participate in day-to-day activities. This often looks like transporting people to and from work sites, providing personal care (if the need arises), and effectively managing work sites. Safety is a top priority for you. As such, you carefully supervise employment sites to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone involved.
