Job summary

Community Services Group - CSG in Avis, PA is looking for a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This full-time position allows you to help individuals lead self-directed lives through daily living skills and community integration activities.

The DSP collaborates with clients and various agencies while ensuring adherence to health guidelines and providing a nurturing environment. Offering a base pay of $17/hr with potential earnings up to $21/hr based on shifts and location.

Qualifications

• Ability to administer medication and treatment as permitted.

Summary

Are you a Direct Care Worker, Personal Care Assistant, Residential Specialist, Home Health Aid, Caregiver, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or looking for an opportunity to help people? The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a caregiver that supports adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in a residential or community-based setting while maintaining sensitivity to the rights and dignity of the individual. The DSP in a residential setting assists individuals to live a self-directed life, assists with activities of daily living, implements individual programming, and is responsible for the routine operation of the home. The DSP in a community program develops and facilitates individualized programs of functional, social, and daily living skills instruction to promote independence, interdependence, and community integration. The DSP reports directly to the Program Supervisor and is part of our Adult Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Services.

Wage Information

Base rate of pay $17/hr with the potential to earn up to $21/hr depending on location and shift.

Job Description

• Develop relationships where those we support live, work, or in a community setting, in order to promote and ensure their emotional, physical and personal well-being.
• Assist adults in the development of appropriate life skills necessary to reach their highest level of potential including interaction with others, cooking, housekeeping, money management, personal hygiene, and other skills in appropriate settings.
• Support the individuals' preferences and ensure their interests are honored.
• Actively search for opportunities for those you serve to experience life in their homes and communities based on their hobbies and interests utilizing community resources to promote community integration, independence, and interdependence.
• Help individuals reach their goals to be more independent by offering guidance, instruction, and role modeling.
• Complete all required documentation including electronic health record in an accurate, timely, and professional manner.
• Collaborate and cooperate with involved agencies, family members, and other service providers; participate in meetings and provide relevant information.
• Provide support and assistance to individuals in arranging for medical care when responsible to do so and follow health care recommendations including individuals to follow all dietary guidelines as recommended.
• Conduct fire drills, manage emergency situations during assigned work shifts, and provide coverage in emergency situations.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle to attend trainings, meetings, and/or transport individuals to appointments.
• Administer medication and treatment as permitted under regulations.
