Job summary

Guided Steps NJ is hiring Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with disabilities in daily activities across Central and Northern New Jersey. The role involves fostering independence, implementing care plans, and safe transportation support.

Competitive hourly pay and flexible caseload options are offered, plus benefits and ongoing training. Applicants should be 18+, have a valid driver's license, pass background checks, and complete required DSP training.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
• Must have and maintain a reliable vehicle, valid auto registration and insurance.
• Ability to pass State, Federal, and drug tests.
• Completion of required DSP training.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a similar caregiving role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor.
• CPR and first certification required.
• Ability to lift/push/pull 30 lbs.
• Experience with ABA-based interventions
• Data collection and reporting skills (Boggs Center PBIS training or equivalent training preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living tasks such as hygiene, meal preparation, and transportation
• Provide direct support and assistance to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities
• Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills
• Implement individualized care plans and document progress
• Assist with medication administration as needed
• Provide transportation to appointments, community outings, and recreational activities
• Foster a safe and supportive environment for individuals with disabilities
