Devereux Pocono Center is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide safe, supportive care to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a hybrid setting serving the Nursing Department and Day Programs. The role involves assisting with medical appointments, transportation, medication runs, hygiene and daily routines.

This position offers competitive pay ($18.00–$20.52/hr) with shift differentials, CNA bonuses, and options for growth within behavioral health services.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
• One year of human service experience preferred (adult or child).
• Must possess a valid drivers license.
• Experience in a medical setting or familiarity with medical terminology is preferred but not required.

This is a hybrid position that supports both the Nursing Department and our Day Programs and can be either full-time or part-time.

As a Direct Support Professional at Devereux, you will provide safe, supportive care to residents at the Pocono Center, ensuring their physical, emotional, and personal needs are met. Responsibilities include covering medical appointments, transportation to/from appointments, medication runs, assisting with hygiene, supporting daily routines and community outings, attending training sessions, and completing special assignments as directed by the coordinator.

• Competitive Pay: $18.00–$20.52/hr based on experience, education, and shift

• Earn up to $0.50/hr in shift differentials

Education:

Minimum high school diploma or GED required

Experience:

One (1) year preferred of human service experience working with children, adolescents, or adults preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Experience working in a medical background or comfort with medical terminology is preferred, but not required.

Additionally, you must be able to complete required new hire orientation class, have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs and possess a valid license.

Physical Requirements:

Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 50 lbs. or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.

Work Environment:

Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuations in temperature. Use of Protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial mask protective eyewear, and gown. Possible exposure to blood‑borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.
