Job summary

Heart Havens seeks a caring Direct Support Professional to empower adults with developmental disabilities and help them lead full, vibrant lives. You will assist with daily activities, plan for events, and support residents to pursue their interests within a respectful, community-focused setting.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED (6 months of direct support experience; 1 year in a DD residential setting preferred) and a valid Virginia driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 6 months' direct support experience required.
• 1-year direct support experience in a DD residential group home setting preferred, or a combination of experience and certifications with a minimum of two years in DD residential with a consistent job history.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to residents as outlined in ISPs and residential plans.
• Understands and supports residents according to Health protocols.
• Provides supervision and never leaves residents alone in home or community.
• Supports Residents with Activities of Daily Living to desired level.
• Encourages residents to engage with others and participate in meaningful activities.
• Administers medications according to procedures and the 6 Rights of Medication Administration.
• Completes accurate daily documentation including ISP Notes and T-Logs.
• Maintains confidentiality and health information.
• Notifies leadership of incidents or medical updates.
• Participates in routine emergency drills and follows policy.
