Job summary

Firefly in Joplin, MO, seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver for our Day Program. No experience required—paid training is provided.

You will assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to build independence, skills, and meaningful community engagement, guided by compassionate care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license, if applicable.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Support adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities.
• Help individuals access community resources and participate in social activities.
• Provide transportation for appointments, shopping, and outings.
• Teach independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and money management.
• Assist with daily living needs, including personal care and hygiene.
• Document client progress, achievements, and milestones.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
• Follow each individual's ISP and participate in team meetings.

What You'll Do in This Position:

• Support adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities
