Direct Support Professional: 1:1 Day Pro

Full Time, Newborn, GA, US

Salary Range: $17.00 to $17.00 per hour

Job Summary

Direct Support Professionals assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily activities and provide dedicated 1:1 support between morning pickups from the Newborn location and transport to the day center in Conyers. DSPs transport individuals back to the Newborn residence at the end of the day, support personal hygiene, meal preparation, transportation, and social activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Engage residents in activities of choice, reinforcing Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals.
• Provide transportation and supervision for residents per program requirements.
• Maintain accurate daily logs documenting activities, problems, and needs.
• Ensure each resident’s personal hygiene and grooming needs are met.
• Use appropriate body mechanics to lift, move, and position residents; provide prescribed exercises and physical care.
• Inspect homes at the start of shifts to ensure safety; correct deficiencies or submit written reports.
• Conduct evacuation drills (fire and severe weather) as directed.
• Follow program plans for emergencies (medical, fire, severe weather, missing persons).
• Clean and sanitize appliances, utensils, work surfaces, bathrooms, kitchen, and telephones per guidelines.
• Cook and prepare meals.
• Report equipment problems to supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for Personal Care Home and UCP Residential Services.
• Uphold confidentiality, supporting the fundamental human, civil, constitutional, and statutory rights of clients and families.
• Be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lb with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Full‑time position.
